I'm sure that by now everyone has seen these blackout poems somewhere online.  I thought that they looked pretty cool, bit I didn't want to deface a book to try one.  On Wednesday my roommate and I walked in to the class we have together and were handed a copy of a page of the book the we were reading.  Instead of discussing the reading, we made poems as a class, then had a poetry slam.  It was actually a lot of fun.  This is a page from Sorrows of Empire, by Chalmers Johnson, which is terrifying and also a book that every American should be required to read.
